Coronavirus Response: 03.13.20

Hey Connect Family,

Well this has certainly been a different kind of week, hasn’t it?! But the good news is GOD IS STILL IN CONTROL! As a church we have an amazing opportunity to make a difference and connect people to Christ, community and purpose. That is EXACTLY what we are going to do! While most people, places, businesses are ramping down, we are ramping up with creative ways to make an impact for THE Cause of Christ! Our team has been working really hard, and we’re just getting started.

God is not surprised by any of this! And He still has work to do in Akron. In fact, at Connect Church, we have been praying and looking for ways He would have us serve the people of our community during a time when many of them are feeling fearful and isolated. Some of those ideas have already happened!

This past weekend we launched a new version of Connect Church…Connect Church Online! We had over 500 views of the service on our website alone and more than 1,500 views on Facebook and YouTube as of today! If you missed it or you want to watch the service again, you can certainly go back and do that!

Our new kids, youth and family resource pages at and will have new material every Wednesday at 6:30pm for your kids and students until we get to the other side of this virus and we can meet in person again.

WE WILL NOT BE MEETING IN PERSON THIS SUNDAY, but our Sunday Service will continue to live stream every Sunday at 10:45am. Because church is never cancelled, it just looks different....because the church is MORE than a building! It will be on our website, YouTube and Facebook live, so it will be very easy for you to join us so we can worship together. For our Life Groups, I leave it to your leaders to make the best decision for your group this week. We have not made any decisions about future weeks as of yet. We are just looking at this upcoming week and in a few days we will see how this is all progressing and go from there.

Last Summer, when we launched Connect Church our goal was to have online streaming available ASAP so we could help more people connect to the good news of Jesus and take a next step in their faith. What we didn’t know then, was that God was actually preparing us for this moment when we would be called on to adapt how we do church together to meet the needs of our community. So while we may be putting our physical service on pause for now, we are not pausing the mission!

We will also be launching a Community Missions Team project this weekend that EVERY ONE OF US can be a part of! Make sure to watch the Connect Church Online service at 10:45am this Sunday to hear all of the details!

Finally, THANK YOU to those of you that have faithfully supported your church financially this week. We can’t keep connecting people to Christ, community and purpose without you! If you have not had the chance to give yet, would you prayerfully consider giving today? You can give online RIGHT HERE, drop it off in person or send in a check by mail.

While I know it will be different and in some ways difficult, I believe God is not surprised by this and He will take care of us because we are putting His values as our highest priority. 2 Timothy 1:7 says, ‘”for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” Let’s live out this verse. Let’s be the church to those around us and love people in the name of Jesus. Lets remember who is really in control when things seem chaotic and out of control. Jesus is never NOT in control. GOD IS FIRST and we are going to continue to put Him and His values first as we aim to connect to Christ, community and purpose.

Remember, Connect Church is more than a building. Church is never cancelled, it just looks different now! We are excited about how God is going to use this to reach even more people for the Kingdom!

See you online this Sunday!

-Pastor Jay
